Job Title:         Village Liaison/Special Advocacy Case Manager

Department:    ANJC Administration

Reports To:     Director of Operations

Supervises:      None

FLSA Status:  Non-Exempt

Pay Grade:      C3

Job Type:         Regular, Full-Time

 

 

General Functions:

The Village Liaison/Special Advocacy Case Manager develops, coordinates, and manages communication, relationships, and collaborative opportunities with ANJC’s village partners.  This position works in partnership with CITC, the CITC Village Liaison and ANJC Advocacy program and leadership to help promote working partnerships and capacity building in the region.  

 

Duties and Responsibilities:

Village Liaison Duties:

  • Act as primary contract for village contacts and partners.
  • Provide direct and/or service referrals to rural victims of sexual assault, domestic/dating violence, and stalking;
  • Provide oversight and direction of rural and tribal community outreach;
  • Facilitate community capacity building and strategy development sessions, provider and point of contact trainings, and community gatherings focused on culture, sexual and relationship violence, and healing.
  • Provide or coordinate distance consultation support to rural Alaska Native communities and providers.
  • In conjunction with village partners, organize and facilitate site visits intended to promote program/information sharing and partner engagement.
  • Provide reports on collaborative activities and other information relevant to villages and ANJC.
  • Attend the Tikahtnu Forum and other regional information meetings as a primary ANJC representative.
  • Improve the quality of services offered by CITC to Native people of Cook Inlet region by expanding access to sustainable funding and data analysis, which will solidify the company’s long-term strategies for program development.
  • Improve partnerships with other community organizations which support our participants and mission, through collaboration and support of their community projects and goals.
  • Provide information dissemination, capacity building through consultation and technical assistance/advising, and facilitating collaborative programs and service delivery among the Tribal communities, primarily Cook Inlet region, through its partnerships with the nonprofit Tribal affiliate organizations and Tribal Councils with the Cook Inlet region.
  • Provide coordination and outreach with the region and among Alaska Native people statewide, through newsletters, public outreach and internet web development.
  • Support projects designed to work in partnership with Regional Tribes to improve outcomes for Alaska Native people in the Cook Inlet region.

 

Other Special Projects:

  • Connect with appropriate and specific ANJC and CITC staff members on a regular basis to identify opportunities to collaborate with villages and/or service providers providing services in advocacy for victims.
  • Responsible for collection of data/information needed for reports and other communication needs.
  • In cooperation with ANJC leadership and CITC grant writer, responsible for assisting with the writing and drafting content for grant opportunities.
  • Assist with special projects and meetings as necessary to effectively fulfill role.

 Job Specifications:

  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
  • Good public contact skills.
  • Ability to make decisions and exercise good judgment.
  • Ability to work closely and respectfully with village partners and personnel from other departments within Cook Inlet Tribal Council.
  • Ability to work under pressure independently with minimal supervision.
  • Ability to prioritize competing priorities and regular workload.
  • High degree of sensitivity regarding confidential information.

 Minimum Qualifications:

  • Associates Degree in business, social services or other related field. Relevant experience may substitute for educational requirement on a year for year basis.
  • Two years of progressively responsible program/management experience. 
  • Demonstrated knowledge and understanding of the social, health, educational, training, and cultural status of the Alaska Native and American Indian community.
  • Knowledge and understanding of domestic violence/sexual assault, interpersonal violence and/or Human Trafficking.
  • Knowledge of Alaska Native and American Indian culture and/or community resources.
  • Valid Alaska driver’s license and insurable under CITC’s automotive insurance, which requires a driver to be at least 21 years of age;  have reliable transportation and be willing/able to travel.
  • Continued employment status will be contingent upon completion of a satisfactory state and federal criminal background check.

 
Preferred qualifications:

 

  • Bachelor’s Degree in business, social services or other related field.
  • Previous experience in case management preferred, with preference given to those with knowledge related to domestic violence, sexual assault, stalking, dating violence or human trafficking.
  • Two years’ experience working with villages in Alaska.
