    General Functions:

    This position is overseen by the Quality Assurance Manager. This position will be responsible for Recovery Services Case Management System (RSCMS) chart reviews, review of weekly clinical services, validating the quality of service delivered, appropriate of service delivered, delivery of specific curriculum and evidenced based practices, implementation of specific protocol are adhered too and weekly quality assurance reports; as needed, to ensuring departmental needs encompasses the set goals and expectations for services for the Recovery Services (RS) Department.

     

    Duties and Responsibilities:

    • Work with Quality Assurance Manager in obtaining and adhering to Commission on Accreditation of Rehabilitation Facilities (CARF), National and State accreditations and licensing bodies.
    • Provide a documented chart review of RS group schedules, group content, treatment plan, diagnosis, clinical services and other program required services, for adherence to program structure, therapeutic communities and system of care.
    • Audit documentation that is entered into the Recovery Services Case Management System (RSCMS) for accuracy, following of outlined curriculum and identifying common errors.  
    • Assigned by QA Manager, provide quality assurance reviews within Recovery Services Case Management System (RSCMS), to include reviewing the quality of service delivery, appropriateness of the services, key components of the evidence-based practices, and frequency of services. 
    • Assist in developing and outlining group topics and identifying evidence based practices that can be used within the group structure. 
    • Assigned by QA Manager, conduct quarterly, bi annual and annual review of clinical services, adherence to Continuous Quality Management procedures (CQM) and policy and procedures including fidelity for evidence-based participant when identified and used within the programs.
    • Support Clinical Supervisors on reviewing, approving and rejecting clinical forms and documentation within Recovery Services Case Management System (RSCMS). This would include identifying documentation error and support for corrections.
    • Assures adherence to confidentiality and HIPAA regulations.
    • Assigned by QA Manager, review and revise treatment policies and procedures as needed to meet program goals, standards and accreditations.
    • Train and provide guidance in clinical documentation with the Recovery Services Case Management System (RSCMS) to clinical staff.
    • Provide assistance in developing and updating a working user manual for the Recovery Services Case Management System (RSCMS).
    • Complete Recovery Services weekly spreadsheets and reports as assigned.
    • Train and provide guidance to supervisors; as needed, regarding clinical documentation policies and procedures.
    • Provide clear comprehensive support through email, telephone contacts and webcasted telecommunication (Skype, Zoom, etc..)
    • QA Specialist will assure reviews are conducted on charts and forms they have not personally approved.
    • Maintain confidentiality according to regulations, policies and procedures.
    • Perform all related duties as assigned.

    Job Specifications:

    Minimum Qualifications:

    (I)

    • Bachelor’s Degree in Behavioral Sciences such as social work, counseling or psychology.
    • Ability to work offsite, including computer and internet access.
    • Minimum of two (2) years’ experience in a clinical substance use setting as a quality assurance, supervisor and/or substance use counselor position that included chart audits and reviews.
    • Minimum of one (1) year experience working in an electronic case management system.
    • Minimum of one (1) year experience providing evidence based practices in a clinical substance use setting.
    • Continued employment is contingent upon receipt of a satisfactory report from a state and federal background check.
    • Able to obtain Alaska Chemical Dependency Counselor Certification (CDC I) within one year from hire.
    • Experience working with Alaska Native people, knowledge of their values and belief systems and ability to provide culturally competent services.
    • Continued employment is contingent upon receipt of a satisfactory state and federal background check.

    (II)

    • Bachelor’s Degree in Behavioral Sciences such as social work, counseling or psychology.
    • One year supervisory experience in the substance abuse or related field.
    • Currently have an active Alaska Chemical Dependency Counselor Certification (CDC I).
    • Minimum of three (3) years’ experience in a clinical substance use setting as a quality assurance or supervisor position that included chart audits and reviews.
    • Minimum of two (2) years’ experience working in an electronic case management system.
    • Minimum of two (2) years’ experience providing evidence based practices in a clinical substance use setting.
    • Continued employment is contingent upon receipt of a satisfactory report from a state and federal background check.
    • Experience working with Alaska Native people, knowledge of their values and belief systems and ability to provide culturally competent services.
    • Continued employment is contingent upon receipt of a satisfactory state and federal background check.

    (III)

    • Bachelor’s Degree in Sociology, Social Work, Psychology, Counseling or related field. An equivalent combination of education and experience may be accepted.
    • Minimum of five (5) years’ experience in a clinical substance use setting as a quality assurance or supervisor position.
    • Minimum of three (3) years’ experience working in an electronic case management system.
    • Minimum of three (3) years’ experience providing evidence based practices in a clinical substance use setting.
    • Currently have an active Alaska Chemical Dependency Counselor Certification (CDC II).
    • Continued employment is contingent upon receipt of a satisfactory report from a state and federal background check.
    • Experience working with Alaska Native people, knowledge of their values and belief systems and ability to provide culturally competent services.
    • Continued employment is contingent upon receipt of a satisfactory state and federal background check.
