    Job Title:

    Child Health Manager

    Reports To:

    Senior Manager

    General Functions:   

    The Child Health Manager position is responsible to ensure compliance in all health and safety practices within the Clare Swan Early Learning Center (CSELC). This position monitors and assists in all safety aspects for CSELC’s programs, facilities as required by National, State, and Municipal regulations. This position is responsible to help education staff members and families of Health and Safety regulations and procedures, along with encouraging healthy habits in families.

     

    Duties and Responsibilities:

    • Work with relevant CITC teams to ensure standardization of health and safety practices within CSELC and CITC.
    • Attends monthly and quarterly CITC health and safety meetings. Completes the day to day monitoring of health and safety operations of the CSELC facility.
    • Maintain CSELC calendars to include scheduling required staff trainings, ensures that licensures and certifications are current.
    • Conduct and document required monthly, quarterly and annual emergency drills and inspections for CSELC facilities.
    • Participate in trainings in areas related to improvement of service delivery.
    • Maintain health records for all infants and toddlers ensuring up-to-date documentation as required by OHS, State, and Municipal regulations.
    • Completes monthly and yearly reports with management team.
    • Support parents through the referral process to the appropriate health resources, from the beginning of the process to the end. Track all referrals and their status accordingly
    • Complete ChildPlus database daily, ensuring reporting and documentation is up to date.
    • Responsible for scheduling, preparing, and documenting all Health and Safety Advisory Council Meetings, with the ability to facilitate the meetings when needed
    • Responsible for collaboration and communication with parents, providing health and safety education in a cultural sensitive and respectful manner 
    • Responsible for ensuring/documentation for up to date Child health status and care
    • Responsible for ensuring/documentation for up to date Oral health practices
    • Responsible for ensuring/documentation for up to date Child nutrition
    • Responsible for ensuring/documentation for up to date Child mental health and social and emotional well-being.  
    • Responsible for ensuring/documentation for up to date Family support services for health, nutrition, and mental health.  
    • Responsible for ensuring/documentation for up to date Safety practices
    • Model a respectful, caring, calm demeanor in all interactions with participants and staff
    • Maintain confidentiality according to 42 CFR, Part 2 and HIPAA regulations, and CSELC policies and procedures
    • Other duties as assigned

    Job Specifications:

    • Excellent verbal and written communication skills
    • Ability to interpret and implement OHS performance standards as they relate to Health & Safety
    • Ability to work with multi task assignment and coordinate multiple activities
    • Demonstrated ability to read, technical procedures, or governmental regulations
    • Strong problem solving skills
    • Demonstrated ability to work as an active participant in a team environment
    • Strong computer skills in Microsoft Office suite (ChildPlus, Excel, Word, Outlook)
    • Maintain a positive working relationship with CITC staff
    • Must maintain confidentiality at all times while displaying a professional disposition 

    Minimum Qualifications:

    • Certified Medical Assistant (CMA) Qualification
    • Continued employment is contingent upon receipt of a satisfactory state and federal background check
    • Valid Alaska Driver’s License and be insurable under CITC’s automotive insurance, which requires a driver to be at least 21 years of age

    Preferred Qualifications:

    • Valid Alaska Driver’s License and be insurable under CITC’s automotive insurance, which requires a driver to be at least 21 years of age
    • Three (3) years’ experience with a Head Start or Early Head Start program
    • Three (3) years’ experience in the medical field
    • Current or former Head Start Parent

    Hiring Preference:

    Preference shall be given to eligible and qualified Alaska Native/American Indian applicants pursuant to P.L. 93-638 Indian Self-Determination Act.

     

    Hiring preference shall be given to eligible and qualified current/former program parents pursuant to Head Start Performance Standard 1302.90 Personnel Policies (b) (6).
